Please join us for the 2nd Friday ArtWalk opening reception for artist Evee Erb.
Fight Or Flight features a collection of paintings and sculptures exploring the impact of anxiety and trauma on female identity. Presentations of the human figure are created and distorted in examination of the dissonance between the female psyche and external patriarchal culture. Through the use of clay and fiber, the malleable connections between the physical and the psychological are illustrated in the contrast of hard and soft material. The resulting explorations of mind, body, and healing evoke personal narratives in psychologically charged environments, questioning our perception of subjective reality.
Evee Erb graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in 2016 with a BFA in Ceramics. While attending MICA, she also studied Illustration and Textile Design. After receiving her degree, Erb moved back to her hometown of Durham, NC where she has worked at the North Carolina Museum of Art, taught workshops at a variety of art centers, and given lessons and artist talks at various local schools. Erb has had her work exhibited nationally and internationally. She works in clay using traditional hand building and sculpting techniques to combine form and surface with dynamic uses of fiber and textile.
This free event is part of the Carrboro/Chapel Hill 2nd Friday ArtWalk.
